We can help you to be carbon neutral year-in, year-out, for an affordable monthly payments plan of your choice, by planting trees for you in the tropical rainforest.

Who are we?
La Reserva Forest Foundation has planted over 70,000 trees in the past few years in partnership with the likes of Etnies and Giant Studios (motion capture studio for movies such as Avatar) and Strack Chauffered Transportation. We plant new habitats with over 100 species of native trees in order to create thriving tropical forests that the local wildlife will love. Some of the local indigenous tribe, called the Maleku, have nurseries for us which pay them for each tree. We also hire tribesmen to plant and maintain the forests we plant. By supporting us, you will help us in our goal of saving our earth for future generations by planting diverse native forests, you will help wildlife to get safe habitats back, you will support the local Maleku tribe, and you will help yourself become carbon neutral.

You want to donate MORE? Here are some extra monthly options just for you!
You’ve probably understood that it’s very important that we all make efforts to become personally carbon neutral. Or even be carbon negative and help to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases that humanity is adding to the planet’s atmosphere and causing climate change.
We know that you’ll be trying to reduce your carbon footprint in many different ways. But it will be difficult, if not impossible, for you to become fully carbon neutral through measures or changes in lifestyle you take at home and work, and etc.
Also your carbon footprint will vary from time to time. So you may want to make sure that you’re spreading the offset evenly to avoid unwelcome cost spikes and then having to take extra measures to offset.
So we’re offering a range of plans to help you become at least carbon neutral for a modest monthly cost and very little ongoing effort on your part.
By taking up one of these plans you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’re offsetting your share of responsibility for greenhouse gases. AND, by contributing to the cost of La Reserva Forest Foundation’s tree-planting projects, you’re helping reforestation and conservation of vital tropical rainforest. AND you’re helping fauna and flora (including some endangered species) and indigenous peoples to flourish in ways that have been denied them over many generations of slash-and-burn forest destruction.
Here’s what to do:
Use the calculator to work out what your annual carbon footprint is.
Click here for the Carbon Calculator which has been designed at University of California Berkeley and to whom we give thanks for permitting its use here.
When you have calculated your annual carbon footprint, round it up to a figure which you feel will cover variations from time to time, e.g. when you take long-distance air-travel.
The result will be the number of tons of carbon that you’re currently generating in a year.
We have calculated, using figures provided to us by the University of Georgia, Atlanta, U.S.A., that for every U.S. ton (2,000lbs) of carbon emitted by you on average every year, you will need to have 25 trees absorbing CO2, at the average 80lbs p.a. each = 2,000lbs.
So to calculate the number of trees you’ll need to cover 100% of your carbon footprint for life, take the number of tons of CO2 you’re generating in one, average year and multiply by 25 trees per ton. You’ll need to have that number of trees existing and absorbing carbon every year of your life. It might seem a large number of trees but you don’t need to plant them all straightaway. You can plant a much smaller number every year and build up to the total number or more over several years. This enables you to choose which monthly plan to use according to what you feel comfortable about paying. It’s better to spread the cost over several years than be daunted by the total cost and not do it at all, isn’t it! We’re helping you to spread the load by offering you these monthly plans.
In the U.S., the average carbon footprint per person is about 20 tons p.a., and in Europe it’s about 10 tons p.a.. This means that to cover your entire carbon footprint (remember, you can reduce it in various ways), you’ll need 500 trees or 250 trees respectively.
Ordinarily, this might cost you about $2000 up-front to plant 500 trees. And it would be about 5 years before your trees would be capturing 20 tons of CO2 per year. But wait – our plans can make it much easier for you.
If your carbon footprint is 10 tons p.a., you’ll need to have 250 trees planted, ordinarily costing over $1000, but a $16.66 per month plan planting 40 trees a year can take you a long way to becoming carbon neutral from today, yes today because we can speed things up for you. And that doesn’t take account of other measures you can take to reduce your carbon footprint. To be carbon neutral very soon is well within your reach now.
To speed things up for you, as a bonus on top of the number of trees we’ll be planting for you, we’ll assign to you as soon as your monthly plan starts a number of trees we’ve already planted, paid for by donations we’ve received to re-plant the forest for its biodiversity rather than its carbon absorption. They will be trees that are already mature enough to absorb the 80lbs p.a. amount of CO2. And after that, you’ll be assigned more trees that have already reached that maturity, rather than having to wait for the average 5 years that your newly-planted trees will take to reach carbon-absorbing maturity. That way, you’ll know that straightaway you’re beginning to achieve what you’re setting out to do – to become carbon neutral.
We will plant for you, each year, the number of new trees you’ve paid for through your monthly payments. These will be planted as part of our numerous tree-planting projects that you can see if you go to the ‘Projects’ tab at the top of this page. So you’re contributing to protecting and enriching the biodiversity of the forest as well as becoming carbon neutral. You’ll have 5-star GREEN ranking!
On that basis, we are offering this range of plans which you could choose from for yourself, e.g., $8.33 per month, $12.50 per month, $16.66 per month etc. (see above). We will plant the appropriate number of trees for you according to how much you’re paying.
Or, to save you having to do all those calculations, you could use one of the plans, according to which monthly plan you’d like to take up knowing you’ll be planting trees in the tropical rainforest – a great thing to do.
We will send you pictures of trees we’re planting in the projects to which you’re contributing. We’ll also send you videos and details of how the projects are coming along and the multiplicity of benefits resulting from them. And we’ll send you newsletters and other things to keep you abreast of what we’re doing. And we’ll encourage you to feel you’re part of our La Reserva family which we ourselves will most certainly feel you are.
When you’ve selected which monthly plan you’d like to follow, we’ll send a personal email to let you know what we’re going to do for you. Please know that you’ll have full control over how long to continue the plan, what changes to make or etc., etc. We won’t have any control over your plan or your payments, none at all – just over the planting of the trees.
Sounds like a good way for you to become carbon neutral? It sounds good to us!
So you get calculating, and, as we’re continually saying…..
LET’S GET PLANTING!
Take a look at the Before and After photographs below to see the amazing rate at which trees grow in the tropics, and what great benefits they rapidly bring. How will it make you feel to be part of all this?
