REFORESTATION AT LA RESERVA—JUNE, 2008 – REVISED REPORT JULY 31, 2008-SUMMARY

Here is the paper that Yan Liinhart wrote regarding the experimental plantings that he and his crew did this past June, 2008. Enjoy!

The primary objective of this project is to help the land known as La Reserva return to its former state as a lively and dynamic forest.

La Reserva News

La Reserva has seen many visitors and amazing things this past month. Everything is growing like crazy with the beautiful, life-giving rains and we’ve been busy collecting seedlings in the forest and refilling the LRFF nursery. There are now over 70 species of native trees in it now.

Grand Summer Solstice

Mostly, I have news to tell, but on this beautiful summer solstice day, feeling so inspired and hopeful, I must add some of my revelations today. But first let me recount the most recent happenings at La Reserva.

Mother Earth's Little Helpers

This past Saturday the 31st of May, 2008 we planted the new Kiki Corridor in record time. Tropical storm Alma passed us by on Friday making Saturday a normal day here in the tropics, with hot sun in the morning and a good rain in the afternoon. Here I will let the pictures tell the story of that landmark day.

Kiki Corridor Progress-April 7, 2008

Work began on the Kiki biological corridor the 27th of March, only 12 days after the big fund raising dinner on March 15th. The topographical survey was done on the 27th, as well.

LRFF Costa Rica, Fundraiser 2008

On March 15, 2008 a fund raising dinner was held to benefit the creation of a new biological corridor. We call it the Kiki corridor because the owner’s name is Kiki and he has signed on to participate in La Reserva’s forest regeneration project.

What’s up at LRFF

Whew! We’ve been really busy here in Costa Rica. The LRFF was invited to participate in the Wetlands Day celebration here in our town of Tilarán, Guanacaste, Costa Rica with an exhibit in the park for 3 days, February 15 – 17. Here are a couple of photos of our booth and the interested passersby.
